By giving away the keys to a pub in Ireland! In honor of the upcoming holiday, which is this Sunday, March 17, the beer brand is offering fans a chance to take over a pub in Ireland for an entire weekend.
Billed as “the ultimate get together for you and your friends,” this temporary pub-owning experience means you get to call the shots (and serve up all the pints you’d like) for a full 48 hours. Furthermore, the establishment you’d be granted access to is none other than Joseph McHugh’s Pub. The eatery, which is located along Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way, has been around since 1899.
To make this unique opportunity especially enticing, Guinness will also provide a DJ, chef, and beer expert to help ensure this will be a weekend you and your pals won’t soon forget. Oh, and Joseph McHugh’s Pub will also be temporarily renamed in your honor. How cool is that?
So what does one need to do to get a chance to run your own pub? According to Guinness, all you need to do to enter this competition is register your name on the company’s site and share a photo of yourself on social media having fun with friends on St. Patrick’s Day. There are, of course, a few rules to keep in mind. The contest is only open to people 25 and older, and in order to enter successfully you must include “#GuinnessGetTogether” and “#Contest” in your social media post, which needs to be public.
Additionally, the contest is only open to residents of the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, the United States, Great Britain, Germany, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, South Korea, Australia, Malaysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, New Zealand and Singapore.
While it might sound like a bit of a hassle, Delish reports, the pub-owning stint is actually part of a much larger getaway that’s sponsored by Guinness and Tourism Ireland. The trip, which is slated to kick off in April, is actually a week long and features some other noteworthy highlights. For example, the winner (and his or her three guests) will also visit St. James’s Gate Brewery, where Guinness is made. They’ll then enjoy a cross-country flight to visit their aforementioned bar. Sounds like a hell of a contest!
